Nick Treglia
Flight Department UPRT, Government/Military Group Lead
Nick “Outback” Treglia serves as the Military & Government UPRT Working Group Team Lead for UPRTA International. With nearly 40 years of professional aviation experience, he has accumulated more than 10,000 total flight hours—combining both his service as a Naval Aviator and subsequent civilian flying—across multi-engine transport, utility, aerobatic, and trainer aircraft. His career spans civil, military, and training operations, including more than 20 years dedicated to military flight instruction and standardization.
Nick earned a Bachelor of Technology in Industrial Engineering from the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute. He began his career as an engineer with Carrier Corporation and Martin Marietta Orlando Aerospace before being accepted into Aviation Officer Candidates School and U.S. Navy flight training.
On his first sea tour, Nick flew the H-46 Sea Knight with deployments to the North Atlantic, the Mediterranean, and the Gulf War with the USS America battle group. He also supported humanitarian relief operations following Hurricane Hugo in the Caribbean. He later served as a U.S. Navy Primary and Intermediate Flight Instructor in the T-34C, qualifying as a NATOPS Instructor, Standardization Instructor, and Out-of-Control Flight (OCF) Instructor. Following a staff assignment, he flew the C-12 and subsequently the C-130, providing worldwide logistics support. Before retiring, he attended the U.S. Navy Postgraduate School’s School of Aviation Safety.
After retiring from the Navy, Nick served as a Multi-Engine and Single-Engine Flight Instructor and Simulator Instructor with FlightSafety International, providing instruction for the U.S. Army’s Fixed-Wing Qualification Courses in the Cessna 182, Zlin-242, and C-12. He later left FlightSafety to work as an Aviation Specialist and Instructor Pilot, supporting military flight operations including Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Reconnaissance, Surveillance, Targeting, and Acquisition (RSTA) missions. During this period, he deployed repeatedly to Afghanistan, flying operational missions and conducting aircrew training.
After several years of deployments, Nick returned to FlightSafety International in Dothan/Daleville, Alabama, where he resumed duties as a Multi-Engine and Single-Engine Flight Instructor and Simulator Instructor and later became the Director of Safety, responsible for both aviation and ground safety programs.
In 2017, Nick joined Aviation Performance Solutions (APS) as Director of APS Programs at the CAE Dothan Training Center, leading UPRT instructor-pilot standardization and providing advanced upset-recovery training. He served with APS until the end of 2024.
In 2025, Nick transitioned to CAE as a C-12 Flight Instructor, where he currently provides instruction in the U.S. Army Fixed-Wing Aviator Qualification Course, Initial Entry Fixed-Wing C-12 Track Course, and Fixed-Wing Instructor Pilot Course.
